Since 1885, the Georgia Institute of Technology has been at the forefront of technological innovation and global progress. A public research university situated on 400 acres of wooded land in the heart of Atlanta, Georgia Tech stands as a hub for research and creativity for its ~19,000 undergraduates. GT brings together students that believe in its founding value: that technology has the power to improve the human condition.

Top-Ranked and Comprehensive Academics

Georgia Tech is home to 29 schools and six colleges: the College of Engineering, the College of Computing, the College of Sciences, the Ivan College of Liberal Arts, the Scheller College of Business, and the College of Design. The school’s 11 undergraduate Engineering majors rank especially highly , including Mechanical Engineering at #2, Aerospace Engineering at # 2, and Biomedical Engineering at # 1. Georgia Tech also holds the # 6 spot for best undergraduate Computer Science program.

The range of programs available at Georgia Tech also spans beyond technology; students can earn a degree in anything from Accounting to International Affairs and Modern Languages to Atmospheric and Oceanic Sciences. No matter what field a student is interested in, they can be sure that they will find something that aligns with their career goals at Georgia Tech.

Research on the Front Line

With a focus on innovative research that seeks to address and mitigate real-world issues, Georgia Tech prides itself on creating solutions for local, national, and global problems. GT consistently ranks highly among US universities in the volume of research conducted, ensuring that every student has the chance to participate in the world-changing exploration that goes on daily on its campus.

In the fiscal year 2023, Georgia Tech received $1.45 billion in research awards, denoting the quality and purposefulness of the work that is done in computing, engineering, design, business, and the sciences. Research opportunities are available on the Georgia Tech campus, through external channels, and on an international scale. PairMe serves as a perfect example of the University’s dedication to involving undergraduates in research by connecting them with projects and mentors in their fields of interest.

Georgia Tech is also home to ten Interdisciplinary Research Institutes that bring together students and faculty from every school and discipline to accomplish goals that are only achievable through collaboration.

A World of Innovation at Your Fingertips

On campus, students are surrounded by a plethora of creative technological opportunities. The recently established AI Makerspace serves as a massive supercomputer hub that provides students with technological resources that are typically available only to researchers or tech companies. This space serves as a “sandbox” for students and educators to think of new ways to use AI technology creatively. Whether a student finds inspiration in a professor’s lecture or in a conversation with classmates, they have the freedom to compute something that is entirely their own in the AI Makerspace.

Another hands-on opportunity to unleash creativity is the Invention Studio, a student-run makerspace open to the Georgia Tech community with volunteers available to train and help any student with their projects. Here, students are encouraged to “own” the space and are trained on how to both use and maintain its resources, ensuring that the studio remains ready for the next student.

Stepping off campus, students are immediately immersed in the lively city of Atlanta, with its endless possibilities of vibrant food, music, and recreational scenes. Atlanta is also noted as the city with the highest density of startups, corporate innovators, and academic researchers in the southeastern US. No matter what your passion is, you’ll be sure to find it on the GT campus or within its metropolitan area.

Georgia Tech provides opportunities for every student through its dedication to technology, research, and creativity.
